Datepicker
A datepicker lets users choose a calendar date.
Datepickers are useful for deadlines, start and end dates, publication dates, booking dates, milestone dates, and other values where only the date matters. They are input components, so they read from and save to one field on the record.
When to Use It
Use a datepicker when users need to enter a day, month, and year.
Datepickers reduce ambiguity around date formats and make it easier to choose nearby dates. If the exact time also matters, use Timestamp.
What Can Be Configured
Date Display
The date can be displayed in the format that matches the project and audience, such as day-month-year for European teams.
Picker Behaviour
The calendar can start on the most useful view for the workflow. For example, birth dates may be easier with year-first navigation, while deadlines usually start on the normal date view.
Layout
Date fields are usually compact, but paired dates such as start and end should be placed close together so users understand the relationship.
